Recently, Gabriel wrote a paper about the effects of race on poverty and specifically focused on how people of color are disproportionately affected by poverty amongst anyone else in American society. Throughout the excerpt, he writes about modern day Jim Crow laws, Ronald Reagan's drug war, and more.

Projects
This paper consisted of two separate short essay responses: a literary analysis, and a film analysis. Gabriel was given the word "Testimonio" and related it to an excerpt written by Diana Taylor called Hemispheric Performances. In the second part of his essay, he gives an analysis on the 2015 film, Ixcanul, directed by Jayro Bustamante.
